PowerMotionÒ
system, CIMPLICITYÒ
, software provide automation solution
LEETONIA, Ohio -- Robotic Parking a manufacturer
of state-of-the-art modular, fully automated
parking systems, awarded Charlottsville, Va.-based
GE Fanuc Automation a $600,000 contract for
a PowerMotionÒ solution
including servos, amplifiers, PLCs, and CIMPLICITYÒ
HMI software to be used in the design of a 324-car
parking system in Hoboken, N.J. The system is
expected to go live in December 1999.
Desired to serve residential customers, the
Hoboken parking system consists of 35 independently
operating robots, which transport vehicles from
an entrance bay into an open parking space using
the automated system to move pallets, lifts
and carriers. Each axis of motion utilizes a
pair of PowerMotionÒ
servo systems sharing the load. The servos are
sized so in a service situation, either motor
can independently provide sufficient power to
move vehicles. All GE Fanuc hardware will link
to CIMPLICITY software, an open system framework
that provides a powerful, graphical environment
to monitor and control the automation system.
CIMPLICITY will collect and compile data from
the parking system and provide a graphical interface
with real time displays. CIMPLICITY will also
supply maintenance and diagnostics reports,
which will enhance troubleshooting and allow
quick response to system problems.
"With GE Fanuc we were able to achieve
the whole line of products and engineered integration
from one supplier," said Gerhard Haag,
Robotic Parking president and CEO. "We
are excited about the completion of the Hoboken
project, as its success will be important for
this new industry in the United States."
